Due to bad weather, my school was only open for half a day this week. Unfortunately, the power has been out almost as as long for the same reason. We got about 7 inches of snow, a quarter inch thick layer of ice, and half an inch of hail on top, making a very heavy sandwich of COLD. In addition to what was on the ground, we got "freezing rain" which coated EVERYTHING in a very thick, and also heavy, cocoon of ice. About Thursday, the trees started leaning and branches fell down everywhere, creating a very large amount of carnage. Some branches were about 4 in. thick and many trees actually FELL, but thankfully not in our yard. On Friday, it warmed up enough for the snow and ice to start sliding off of the branches. There was so much shrapnel so often, that it sounded like midnight on the 4th of July due to the ice falling on our home and around the yard. You would not even DARE to step outside for fear of being struck with ice or tree limbs.

Today, most of the ice is out of the trees and the trees themselves are back to being perpendicular. We were just wondering when our power was going to come back, because the neighbors that were on separate lines had theirs, when it came back on. BUT THAT ISN'T ALL. Apparently one neighbor on our lines half jokingly called the power company this morning to ask if they forgot about us....
